Wednesday Night Polo
The past two Wednesdays have yielded some good polo games. I'm glad that people around here still have an interest in it and have finally been able to get games together again. I nearly forgot how much I love whacking a ball around in that crappy "court" with the Barb City Dandies... Here are some photos:
We got some real cones to replace the old cans of highly flammable chemicals that we found in the trash.

"If you're not bleeding, you're not playin' polo"
We haven't played polo in a while. With the persistent cold, it's been hard to motivate people to come out and play. However, it feels like spring might finally be here, because last friday we had an incredible turnout with about a dozen people present. We played some excellent game - True Barb City Dandy style polo.
The Double Wide Boyz brought some whole peppercorn and sea salt grinders that they rescued from the dumpsters and dispersed them among us. #doublewidelife. You can never have too much free salt n' pepper. There was some delicious homebrewed Double-Wide Kombucha present as well.
Tom ended the night with a bloody hand (and mallet). Our great Uncle Velo always used to say "if you're not bleeding, you're not playin' polo", or something like that. Tom played polo.

Monday Night Polo
Seems like forever since we've last played polo, but the temperature has been going back up lately and the smell of evil's in the air once again. We gathered up 6 people last night for a few foggy games before it started to pour. It felt good to finally get the crew back together and play. Oh, how we've missed it...

Two Busted Balls for Tom's Birthday
Monday night was probably the coldest one we've had since last winter, yet somehow 10 Dandies showed up to polo. I attribute that to the fact that it was the birthday of our dear friend and long time poloist, Tom.
Unfortunately, the gaming didn't last too long, because it was so cold that both of the "warm weather" balls we had turned into a stone-like hardness and were quickly shattered by Kevin.
Kevin ruined Tom's birthday and Tom was really sad, as depicted by the photo above.
Time to buy some "cold weather" balls.
Poloing will resume once new balls are obtained.

Dandy Polo Returns
After what seemed like a long hiatus, the Barb City Dandies finally reunited for some classic DKLBP-style polo. Lately it's been a struggle to get 6 people (the required number for 3-on-3 games) out to play, due to scheduling conflicts and schoolwork (Drop out of college. Play polo). This Wednesday we had 9 people show up and played some intense games. It was a refreshing sight and hopefully a sign of more consistent meetings from now on.
By the way, if you haven't sampled the beers from Chicago's Revolution Brewing, I'd suggest you do soon. Their Anti-Hero IPA is fantastic and available in cans.
Derek showed up with his beautiful new Singular Peregrine. Obviously not a polo bike, but it's fantastic and I'd like to get some better photos of it in the daylight soon. The perfect gravel riding/offroading/touring/winter commuting machine.
